The purpose of this blog

This is my project for my Human Development in the Social Environment class.  This awareness campaign is on acceptance and self-esteem.  The idea is to take normal traits, skills and / or talents and to turn them into a superpower.  I have created several characters that showcase different skills or talents, then I invite children to think and to decide what their superpower is.

This project has two goals:


1. Build up self-esteem by showing kids that differences aren't bad, we all have something that makes us who we are, and we should embrace our uniqueness.

2. Accepting others even if they are quirky or "different" from other kids in the classroom or society.

Please share this with your children.  Under the PRINTABLES there are PDF files of postcards that back of the postcard is a place for your child to turn her/himself into a superhero.
